Bishop Samuel E. Wright Jr.

Suffragan Bishop Samuel Wright Jr. is Founder and Pastor of Higher Learning Ministries. He is a graduate of Virginia State University where he received a B.S. in Business Administration, a B.S. in Economics and Finance, a Master’s degree in Economics and Applied Statistics and a Master’s Degree in Religious Studies. He is also a graduate of Globier University and Virginia Tech with a PhD’s in both Religious Studies and Economics and Statistics. He served 8 years as Professor of Economics at St. Leo University and 10 years as Assistant Professor of Economics at the colleges of Richard Bland and William and Mary.

Suffragan Bishop Wright currently serves as research professor of economics for Virginia Tech University and senior economist/statistician with the United States Employment and Training Administration. He has been published four times by the Economics Journal, seven times by the Christian Outlook, and three times by the Student Christian Association. He has debated with Louis Farrakhan, Pat Robertson, Jerry Farwell, Colin Powell, Jesse Jackson, and Pat Buchanan. He has had the privilege of studying under great Bible teachers to include the late Bishop Francis Smith, the late Bishop P.L Scott, the late Bishop Ross Paddock, the late Bishop Benjamin Moore, the late Bishop Morris E. Golder, and Bishop James A. Johnson. The opportunity to study under these well-noted Bible teachers has given him an in-depth knowledge of the Word of God.

At the summer convention of 2018, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. assigned Suffragan Bishop Wright to work with the council churches in Zimbabwe Africa. Through his leadership, Higher Learning Ministries sent four of the churches a PA system, electric keyboard, and quarterly monetary support.

Suffragan Bishop Wright’s philosophy in ministering is “meet people where they are and guide them to the next level in Christ.” Suffragan Bishop Wright is married to First Lady Belinda Wright, celebrating 40 years of marriage in May 2020. They are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter, Samuel III, Marcus and April, and three grandchildren, Malachi, Michaela and Marley.
